Analytical Models for Library Planning

The process of managing libniries and networks of libraries is becoming more and more complex. This is partially due to the introduction of new technology and also due to an ever increasing quantity of published material to be processed and disseminated. In this ])apor, analytic tools are developed to help the decision maker resolve issues connected with storage and circulation policies. In the final section a generalized cost-benefit model of library operations is proposed. In a previous paper (/) it was .suggested that the work of Williams i2) and Raffel and Shishko i'S) both have a similar underlying model.
